A graduate of the Open University achieving a first in Mathematics and Statistics. Having recently been a student myself, I fully understand the pressures that face young learners and realise that a little help can go a long way.
Maths is about confidence. Believing in yourself and the methods you are spying. The beautiful thing is, there is usually more than one way to get to the final answer and whichever way works for you, is the best way.
I have been tutoring now for the past 6 years, helping local young learners push their abilities and achieve their personal targets.
During this time I have come to realise that everyone is different and that the relationship between student and tutor is the key to it all.
I feel that all students learn in a different way. For myself I think that it is important than any sessions are student led and aim to make sessions fun and informal where possible. Alot can be gained from looking at past examination papers. I always try to incorporate these in some way each session allowing you to not only get used to the mathematics involved, but also understand the way questions are being asked. Often that is the trickiest bit of examinations.
