Hi, I'm Georgie and I'm a graduate from UCL, who is currently studying a PhD in English Literature at the University of Reading. I'm a working researcher in English Literature with an extensive knowledge of all GCSE and A Level syllabuses. When I'm tutoring I like to make sure that the content is relatable. Shakespeare, An Inspector Calls, Of Mice and Men, Paradise Lost and especially poetry can be seen as rather daunting, but all of these texts have a relevancy to today. Lessons are fun and interactive and the majority of my students improve by 3 to 4 grade levels. This is through practicing the question together, time practices (to get better at time management) and discussion based learning. I have a great track record with all students in the 2024, 2023 and 2022 exam season reporting passes with Grade 4 or above, or B or above in A Levels.

Tutoring Approach

Lessons are always structured around the individual student! Everyone has different needs and abilities and I always try to make sure students are working at the best pace for them. Our first lesson or free meeting will start with us outlining goals for our sessions, as well as having two or three targets we wish to achieve by the end of our time tutoring on MyTutor. I will then start by going through any problem areas, once we're more confident we'll start working on exam technique, and at the end of our time together we will be working on timed practices to really help with time management for the exam (these are short exercises around 5 to 10 minutes long).
