Qualified Teacher and A-Level Examiner who loves Maths and Further Maths. Has achieved top grades and can help you do the same. (Also top grades in Sciences and a 1st from Imperial College in Computing.) Maths PGCE is Master's Level. Continues to take current Exams as the Syllabi change.
I now specialise in A-Level Maths and Further Maths, where I am an Examiner, and tutees appreciate my ability to communicate my understanding. However, I am also happy to help with Maths at GCSE and all ages. As a Mensan, I also offer general 11+/13+ tuition, where parents appreciate my complementary literacy and reasoning skills. I helped my own son enter Mensa and gain entrance to Westminster School.
I also love chess - with my help, my son has won School Chess Prizes.
I also love poetry.
I can provide verifiable evidence of further qualifications than the four verified by First Tutors:
Diplomas in Maths (2001), Statistics (2002) and Economics (2003)
Member of Mensa (No. 173581) and the ISPE (No. 1251) (2001)
Additional 2 A Grade A Levels (for total of 6) : Pure Maths, Statistics (2003)
6 A Grade AS Levels: Economics, Mechanics, Pure Maths, Statistics (2003), Maths, Further Maths (2014)
I currently charge £40 per hour for online lessons. After you have purchased my contact details, I give the first hour free.
I thank you for your interest, and
hope to hear from you.
I have been tutoring students of Edexcel, OCR (A), OCR MEI and AQA since 2014, as well as students of IB Maths. I have tutored students from schools including Westminster School, Eltham College, Colfe's, St. Dunstan's, Dulwich College and the Kent Grammar Schools. I have tutored younger students from schools including City of London and Bromley High, and have helped younger children excel at entrance exams to Westminster School, City of London, Trinity College and Victoria College (Jersey). I have also tutored my own son, now a Mensan at Westminster School, from an early age.
Much of my tutoring is now online, for which I use a graphics tablet for annotation, with my comprehensive revision website.
I am happy working closely to the specification of the examiners, using material they have approved. At the start of the year I would generally support my tutees in their schoolwork, rather than giving an alternative scheme of work. As exams approach I would generally help prepare my tutees by working through past questions with them. My tutees are the bosses, however, and they tell me what they want to cover each session.
For 11+/13+, I provide book-based teaching rather than assessment. I select books in agreement with parents, and then impart my knowledge and understanding to children as I review their homework. However, I do not agree with the modern emphasis on continual assessment. I do not believe that an object gets heavier the more times you weigh it.
