I am a very experienced teacher of secondary school age students. I have just retired from classroom teaching but enjoy coaching pupils to reach the highest standards in A level and GCSE examinations.
I still work in the school where I taught helping sixth formers make successful applications to study Medicine, Veterinary Science, Dentistry in addition to Biology and related subjects at Oxbridge.
I have worked for the last 39 years in Kent Grammar Schools where I have taught Biology to GCSE and A level, and Chemistry to GCSE as well as lower school science. I have a good rapport with pupils and always achieve excellent examination results for them.
I always check students prior knowledge before starting to teach a new topic. I simplify a topic as much as is appropriate and make sure students understand one stage before passing on to the next.
I believe in using a questioning approach to learning so students are actively involved in their learning.
For examination subjects, I always use past examination questions to practice doing what will have to be done in the exam.
