I am an experienced teacher and an examiner for a leading examination board (AQA). As such, I am able to help learners maximise their potential using targeted revision and examination techniques to attract marks in the most efficient and effective way. Indeed, the Psychology department in which I was a key member for 15 years, was consistently recognised for its excellence in teaching and innovation, resulting in outstanding learner feedback and success rate.

Tutoring Experience

I am a qualified Psychology teacher with 15 years' experience teaching A Level at a leading FE college in Cheshire. I have a proven track record developing and implementing teaching and learning resources to deliver challenging, supportive and rewarding learning sessions where my aim is to raise each student's achievements beyond his/her expectations. I am currently developing learning resources to incorporate augmented reality in the classroom providing engaging content and interaction for learners. For example, by triggering an image of a neuron, biopsychology comes to life through video, opening up a whole new world of learning opportunities. I believe that augmented reality content can create exciting learning experiences and endless learning possibilities which speak to the needs of visual learners, but specifically target learners who conventionally underachieve due to a lack of engagement. I have been tutoring privately since September 2016 and have found being able to provide extra academic support in this way to be incredibly rewarding as I witness real, measurable progress in learners.

Tutoring Approach

My tutoring aims to instill confidence, is stimulating, engaging and tailored to a tutee's individual needs. I provide a bespoke service where tutees receive one-to-one support, interactive workbooks, examination papers, mark schemes and other relevant resources. Guidance can also be provided on how to manage revision and workload. I am happy to provide either one-to-one personal tuition in a tutee's home, at my home in Cheshire, or online sessions via Skype, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet, for those learners who are comfortable with distance learning. If my travelling distance is greater than 15 miles, I may be willing to travel but would have to charge for my mileage. I have tutored learners face-to-face from across Cheshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire. Towns include Nantwich, Crewe, Market Drayton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Middlewich, Sandbach, Holmes Chapel, Alderley Edge, Chester, Whitchurch, Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent and Tarporley. In addition to those learners who I have tutored face-to-face, I have also tutored learners via Skype in Dubai, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Malta, France, Greece, Spain, Guernsey, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Cumbria, Surrey, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Norfolk, Devon, Dorset, Cornwall, Nottinghamshire, Kent and Sussex. All tutees are invited to access my online classrooms which include a wealth of learning resources enabling independent recapping of learning on any mobile device, at any time, day or night. I am an enthusiastic communicator, recognised as being a caring, supportive tutor with a passion for Psychology and a desire to see each and every learner succeed.
