Glen

Hello! I'm Dr. Glen Removed, an experienced lecturer and researcher with over 15 years of academic experience in Sociology, and Religious Studies. I have taught at a range of institutions, including the University of Birmingham, Cardiff University, and Bedford College Group, developing a passion for helping students engage with complex ideas in a way that is accessible, meaningful, and relevant to their studies.

I hold a Ph.D. from Liverpool Hope University, as well as an M.A. from Cardiff University and a B.A from the University of Exeter. My academic journey has equipped me with a deep understanding of diverse fields, and I’m particularly interested in how social theories, ethical frameworks, and cultural contexts shape human behaviour and society.

I strive to create a learning environment where students feel supported in developing their critical thinking skills and gaining a deeper understanding of the world around them. Whether you're studying for an exam, need help with a project, or want to delve into the topics I specialize in, I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals!

Tutoring Experience

I have taught at different levels during my teaching career, from A-Level and Foundation courses through to masters degrees, as well as supervising undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations. I have taught at a diverse range of institutions including Cardiff University, University of Birmingham, Birmingham Newman University, Bedford College Group and Milton Keynes College.

Tutoring Approach

I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to teaching. Every student is unique, and it is important to me to understand each individual’s learning style, interests, and strengths. By getting to know my students personally, I can tailor my lessons to meet their specific needs, ensuring the material is accessible and resonates with them in ways that suit their learning preferences.

Rather than adhering to a rigid teaching method, I prefer to be flexible and dynamic, adapting my approach to create an environment where each student feels comfortable and motivated to engage. For example, I incorporate elements of pop culture—such as films, TV shows, music, and current events—into my lessons to make academic material more relevant and relatable. This approach helps bridge the gap between theory and the real world, making learning more engaging while also demonstrating how the concepts we study are connected to everyday life.

By using these creative and personalised methods, I aim to foster a deeper understanding of the material and encourage my students to think critically and analytically about the world around them. I want them to feel that the subjects they are studying are not just abstract concepts, but tools they can use to understand and navigate the world.
