I have many years experience as an industrial chemist and laboratory manager. I finally decided to follow my dream of teaching about 18 years ago and haven't looked back since. I am a fully qualified and registered teacher with the GTCW and have a current CRB check.
After qualifying I worked, as a supply teacher, in many schools throughout South Wales teaching KS3 & KS4 Science and AS/A2 Chemistry, so have gained much experience with most exam boards. I also taught A level chemistry in evening classes in a college in Cardiff for several years.
For 2 years I was the second in science and KS3 Science co-ordinator in a Cardiff school.
I am now the Head of Faculty for Science & Technology in a school in Powys, a role I have enjoyed for the last 6 years.
I believe in a relaxed style to teaching/tutoring where the pace of the lesson is determined by you. I am very patient and allow as much time as necessary on a topic until you have a complete understanding.
Where possible I use demonstrations to relate the work to real life situations and regularly use a laptop to provide an alternative way to learning.
I have access to past paper questions that are relevant to the course that you are studying and use examiner's mark schemes to show you what they are looking for when marking exam papers.
Included is email/text support in between lessons and where appropriate will set additional work for you to complete.
On-line tuition with a web cam using Skype or Zoom has become more popular in the last year and I have successfully helped many students in this way for many years and this is only £30/Hr. With the current restrictions regarding Covid I am only doing on-line tuition, however this is under constant review and I hope to return to normal home tuition shortly.
