I am a scientist with a passion for all things chemistry! I completed an MChem (Master of Chemistry) at the University of Manchester in 2022 where I focused on electrocatalysis and surface analysis for green hydrogen production.

Since I left university I have worked in a start-up company making plastic out of waste CO2 and have gained a lot of hands-on experience. I am also a science writer for different publications.

I am very passionate about science and I am super keen to help others understand, regardless of their prior educational background or age, everyone deserves to understand and appreciate science!

Tutoring Experience

I have a lot of experience tutoring GCSE and A-level students. Many of my students have said I have helped them to understand their curriculum by explaining concepts in an adjacent way to their teachers. Sometimes all it takes is a different angle!

Tutoring Approach

It always took me longer than my peers to understand concepts in science, until I worked out the best way for me to learn was to listen to how my teacher explained, then look for youtube videos, then interactive quizzes and write flash cards. By this I mean that the approach I find best is to use multiple resources and to get stuck on one way of explaining as I completely understand that sometimes all it takes is someone to come at it from a different angle.

We can look at the notes you've made in class or lectures and we will identify where it is that is causing you issue and find alternative ways to explain and understand. I find that once a concept is clear, it can be memorised for exams so much easier.

I will also let you lead if you would like, be that focusing on the homework you have been set by your teacher or working through a book. This is your time and we can understand how to get you comfortable with the content, together!
