Preparing for examinations can feel overwhelming and confusing, particularly as there are no shortcuts to success. I am here to remove the complexity and unlock your potential so you are exam ready. I want your preparation to be enjoyable and effective so you can take the exam with complete confidence. Building trusted relationships with my students and their parents/carers is central to my approach.
I have over 15 years’ tutoring experience, both in the UK and abroad, supporting a range of students to prepare them successfully for high-stake examinations. An inspirational secondary school teacher nurtured my love of politics and history, and looking back, this is where the seeds of my interest in teaching were sown and led me to studying and graduating from a world-leading university, one of the UK’s Russell Group universities which is made up of research intensive institutions. My skill set has been developed through working across a range of roles including classroom teaching, teacher training, and publishing. I have a passionate belief in the ability of all learners to achieve their goals. My student-centred style offers bespoke sessions which focus on the individual needs of the student. The results achieved by my previous tutees have demonstrated my ability to deliver high quality sessions focusing on the key areas necessary to bring success.
I have taught in two different countries and languages, in a range of teaching and learning environments. I take pride in developing effective strategies and creative solutions to meet the needs of all learners, differentiate effectively, and foster an environment in which each tutee can perform at their best. I empower my students to build their confidence and skills to achieve top results. Gaining top grades can be life-changing so getting the right kind of support and building academic resilience is key.
I have developed my tutoring style over a number of years to maximise the time available. After an initial consultation, I create a detailed student profile which involves identifying and outlining the student’s current circumstances and setting appropriate goals. I then provide tailored learning plans and keep track of progress to ensure the student reaches their goals.
Sourcing and curating imaginative content, whether it be my own resources, published materials, subject-specific magazines or online communities, is frequently my starting point for delivering engaging and effective lessons and I enjoy developing my own resources. My work in publishing involved the development and promotion of a range of learning materials for the state sector, universities and private sector clients. I have extensive experience in designing and delivering lessons for a range of pupils in public and private schools. I have also conducted teacher training sessions.
With an incredible series of unexpected and unpredictable events at home and abroad in recent years, the study of history and politics has never been more relevant or more fascinating. By creating opportunities for lively and engaging debate, together we will see how current affairs can be best interpreted to bring more meaning and clarity to the theoretical aspects of the subjects, which leads to developing a deeper understanding and achieving higher grades.
I am in the very fortunate position of being fluent in Italian, and to keep my skills fresh, I continue to receive one-to-one tuition. This ongoing tuition means I fully understand what being a learner entails. I have not forgotten what it was like when I could barely string a few words together! This experience also means that I set consistently high expectations for all my students.
