Hi! I'm Gwilym - a supportive, approachable and passionate teacher.
I have expertise in a number of subject areas - Drama/Theatre Studies, English and Philosophy and Ethics - as well as proficiency in general study skills and writing technique, up to and including doctoral level.
I received straight A grades in my A-levels (state school), before coming top of my undergraduate cohort in Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Warwick. In July 2019, I received a doctorate in Drama from the University of Manchester. I also have extensive experience in the theatre industry as a director and workshop facilitator.
Whatever you need support with, and whatever level you're working at, I would love to work with you!
I have received overwhelmingly positive feedback for my teaching, up to and including Masters study. I have experience of teaching one-to-one and in small groups - both in subject-specific content and general study skills. I can help with anything from specific questions around content and theory, through to more general skills like note-taking, revising, and exam and essay technique. I also have a proven track record in helping to develop and hone University applications and personal statements - again, up to and including Doctoral level. I have always drawn great satisfaction from watching my students flourish - seeing mental blocks disappear and confidence grow!
I am a friendly, and encouraging teacher who enjoys bringing the best out of students through positive reinforcement and confidence building. I find that my students are often drawn to subjects like drama, English and philosophy because of deeply-held passions; my job is to nurture this whilst adding rigour, finesse and technique to students' work.
