I tutor maths at all levels - primary, KS3, GCSE and A level (including mechanics and statistics, which a number of students seem to struggle with). I also tutor mature students - whatever your needs I can help!
I am educated to degree level in both Maths (University of St Andrews) and Statistics (Central London Polytechnic, now the University of Westminster). I am a retired Government Statistician, working at the Office for National Statistics and its predecessors for over 35 years. During my career I presented Government statistics to a wide range of audiences, including live on television. Outside of tutoring, my interests include watercolour painting, chess and walking.
I have been tutoring formally for over 8 years following my retirement, but I have tutored informally (family and friends etc) for a number of years. I have successfully tutored numerous GCSE and A level students over the years, but I have also tutored at primary school level.
Most of my students have contacted me via other tuition sites or found out about me through local contacts and advertising. I can provide testimonials from existing students on request.
My approach is flexible, driven by the needs of the student. I am a great believer in practice, practice, practice - especially with past papers - but preceded where necessary by supportive coaching to improve confidence.
I am committed and dedicated to helping my students fulfil their goals.
