I am currently studying Natural Sciences at the University of East Anglia. My personal focuses are Environmental and Biological Sciences, as well as Data Science.
At A-level, I achieved A*AA in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics respectively, and an A* in the EPQ.
However, these grades did not come easy to me- in fact, I found these subjects particularly challenging, and I found myself having to work very hard to achieve these grades.
I feel that through trial and error, I learned how to wrap my head around the vast subject content, develop effective revision practices and maintain a routine through the gruelling year 13 workload. This puts me in the best position to guide others who may be struggling in the same way that I was.
I have been tutoring, both online and in person, since 2020.
I have experience teaching Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, English Literature and Language.
In addition to this, I have undertaken several paid and voluntary positions in a classroom environment.
I recently completed a teaching internship at a local high school, where I planned and led independent teaching sessions.
During school, I assisted with the delivery of Science lessons to younger years, as well as volunteering as a 'Science Buddy'- tutoring a student in A-level Biology over a year.
Prior to this, I have worked as a classroom assistant at Kumon study centre overseeing small groups and providing individual support to struggling pupils.
I have also spent time volunteering at a local primary school as a classroom assistant, where I would often spend one-on-one time with pupils that needed extra support, as well as supervising group activities.
Over the years, I have learned that every student has a different style of learning. I can quickly assess students, and have developed techniques to suit every pupil's individual needs.
Whether I am teaching online or in person, I have a wide range of resources and activities in order to keep lessons varied and engaging.
My lessons often focus on understanding mark schemes, and application of content to exam questions, which is the most vital part of revision. I also develop my homework plans in conjunction with lessons, as this gives the student an opportunity to consolidate and utilise knowledge beyond lesson times.
