I pride myself on being able to teach all types of learners and bring people out of their shells with a mild mannered and easygoing approach to teaching. I believe learning is an enjoyable experience and if taught well, students become independent learners who thrive with the skills developed under the care and guidance of specialists like myself.
In my free time (if that exists!) I am usually found running after my twin toddlers and/or twin cats, trying to finish cups of tea before they freeze over, and forever seeking the perfect life-work balance.

Tutoring Experience

I am a secondary school English teacher and private tutor, previously an EAL Coordinator (English as an Additional Language) for the whole school, associate examiner for a reputable and well-established examining board in the UK, and have previously co-founded and been Head of Content for an educational magazine for children. I have tutored for over 15 years.

Tutoring Approach

I focus on developing independence in my students and teaching them the skills they need to succeed on their own, without feeling reliant on me long term. My aim is to prepare them to be excellent lifelong learners. I am the kind of teacher that promotes and models great spoken language and literacy, refuses to accept work when I know my students can do better, and strives to instil high standards in her students so that they expect the best from themselves.
