I am a qualified Primary school teacher with over 23 years experience in primary schools in Telford and Wrekin and Shropshire. I hold a BEd primary specialising in Theology with QTS. I also have the Nasendco award. I currently work part time in EYFS as I strongly believe in grasping the basics first. I am a qualified tutor, certificated through Telford and Wrekin in Primary maths and English/Every Child A Writer. I consider myself a passionate and fun tutor and have learnt many skills including flexibility and adaptability. I like to identify gaps in learning and develop personalised plans with the tutee and their parents (if under 16 years olds). Having completed the Nasenco award November 2021, I have a recent in depth knowledge of Special Needs and have many ideas on how to aid different learners at different stages of education. I currently teach Early Years Foundation Stage in a local primary school but before that taught in KS2 Year 4 and 6 tutoring often for Sats. I am currently tutoring English as an additional language to a nursery pupil and a year 8 pupil. I have been flexible with sessions for my nursery pupils involving key areas of development and learning from the Development matters documents/birth to 3. I have successfully tutored online and adapt planning to ensure my pupils maintain focus. I want parents to know that as teachers education is paramount but working together to achieve this is crucial. I tutor because not only do I want to teach but I want to help and support outside of school.
I work part time at a local primary school but having spent time with booster groups, EAL, 1:1 and SEND children decided to offer my exertise as a tutor. I have seen first hand how within only a handful of sessions with a real focus helps the learner succeed academically.I have taught all ages, including adults learning to read/write but obviously am more aware of the needs and learning outcomes of primary school children especially around SATS ages.I have taught from nursery to year 6 throughout school. All of my pupils have exceeded beyond their expected standard due to their hardwork in reading, writing and maths and all of my more recent tutees have reported the positive impact in school.
I am open to hearing any issues or gaps in learning you feel is needed .I offer individualised teaching and learning, often led by the child's misconceptions and always plan directly from each session. Tuition allows the pupils to have the time to focus on their area of need and practice until it is grasped fully.
I do an initial assessment around the subject on the first session which usually involves games and flashcards and then progress from there. It is important that the pupil feels comfortable and enjoys what they learn so that they can retain more.If parents or adults are a big nervous or reluctant they are welcome to stay as long as it doesnt put the pupil off.
Currently I have a Saturday morning, Sunday afternoon and Monday daytime available.
