With over 12 years experience as a Secondary Spanish teacher in both the state and independent sector in the U.K, I currently work in a successful independent school where I have the pleasure of teaching students from Years 5-13. I am fully up-to-date with the Spanish GCSE and A Level specifications and have taught these for over 12 years.
In addition to my teaching role, I am also a Team Leading examiner for Spanish GCSE and a Visiting Examiner for A Level Spanish for one of the main exam boards, both of which have given me invaluable knowledge and strategies that I use to help my students achieve and exceed their potential. I have worked with students of all levels, abilities and needs and I strive not only to ignite within my students my passion for Spanish, but also to teach them and practise specific Grammar, Vocabulary and exam strategies to help them score the best possible grades in the Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening exams.
During my career, I have taken part in inspections that have been judged to be ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED and ‘Excellent’ by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.
In the last 8 years since I joined my current school, the number of students opting to study Spanish GCSE has quadrupled and I take pride in teaching my students with professionalism, joy and passion, and strive not only to pass on to them my love of Spanish, but also teach them everything they need to know to achieve and exceed their targets.
I have tutored students from Years 6 – 13 and adults for the past 14 years both in the U.K and Internationally. This includes students attending state schools, independent schools, international schools and grammar schools. It has been wonderful to see how their confidence, language skills and grades have skyrocketed (some by 5 whole grades).
Previous students have gone on to study Spanish at University and gain professional jobs where they use their language skills daily.
Due to going down to part-time in my teaching job, I have gained some extra time so now have limited spaces available to take on new students.
After having lived and worked in Spain, I am hugely passionate about all things Spanish so always strive to ignite my love of Spanish to my students, and teach them specific exam skills, grammar and vocabulary, not only to help them improve their confidence in Spanish, but to also facilitate them to achieve outstanding exam results.
I am a mum to a child with additional needs and work with children with additional needs on a daily basis so I always make any adjustments necessary to help students I work with.
