I am a retired tutor. I taught Maths for more than 40 years. I was trained to become a chemical engineer, but my circumstance didn't allow me to complete my qualifications. I was in my final year of studies when I had to leave my studies in 1977. I picked it up after 12 years and completed a degree in Maths from Karachi University in 1989. I did a second degree in Maths from Open University in Uk. I also did a PGCE in 2009 from Greenwich university, London.
I taught in secondary Schools in Karachi Pakistan, for 10 years. I was also teaching O-levels and A levels, following the Cambridge syllabus (UCLES).
Then I moved to England and taught for 25 years in Secondary schools, teaching up to A levels.
I retired during COVID.
From my experience, i have realized that Math is not a very popular subject and therefore I teach it with empathy. I am very passionate about math, at the same time I have to realize that not all students may share the same passion as me. I use different teaching methods and style suiting to the individual needs. I use different resources and visual aids, from computer and online resources to physical resources to make the understanding simple and enjoyable. I believe if Math is taught with passion and patience, there is no reason why students cannot do well.
