Ian really good at tackling questions I have sent him and working through problems together.
From Debra
My son is really enjoying working with Ian. Improving his A level maths and physics skills.
Thank you Debra

What can I say? Ian ticks all the boxes for the ideal tutor. He listens to what you want and delivers exactly that. He is intuitive and thoughtful and has yours and your child's best interests at heart. He is forthright and honest and calls a spade a spade which is very helpful in determining the direction of your child. I can't think of any student who wouldn't benefit from Ian's knowledge and teaching skills. My son is being taught Chemistry and Maths, but it is good to know Ian can be flexible and also teach Physics. Ian is obviously well read and uses his intelligence to try and inspire others with the passion he has for his subjects. Highly recommended.
Thank you Cheryl
From Samuel
Excellent Teacher… my son who is quite picky as he is already an A grade student loves him!
Thanks Sam

After three lessons with my daughter, she has found the style of Ian's tutoring difficult to follow and therefore has decided not to continue with him.
It is unfortunate that we have to look for another tutor for the subject for my daughter.

A nice and supportive family with ambitions to send their daughter to Cambridge to study chemical engineering/ A good strategy for this might be
(a) Do 4 A levels (b) Do further Maths (c) Have top 1 % mental arithmetic (d) Have perfect grasp of physics formulae at and beyond GCSE (e) Have familiarity with periodic table. (f) Talk to others who have done this. (g) Have the flexibility of mind to realise that a far more academic approach is required than that offered by school teachers and mediocre tutors
Unfortunately this student had trouble factorising 2 digit numbers, poor grasp of basic physics formulae and the early periodic table. She had not taken further maths and was only doing 3 A levels. This lowers her probability of achieving the grades and would make the Cambridge experience excruciatingly painful even if she got in. She has almost certainly been over tutored for 5 or 6 years as poor basics and good rehearsed answer material are a give away here and will be picked up in the first 90 seconds of a Cambridge interview.
I tried to address the underlying problem here and my frankness was not welcome. I offered to introduce students of mine who had recently graduated from top universities, but the student was not interested. (I teach a lot of university students as well as A levels). Had I behaved as a bad tutor and just turned up for the money each week, I would have got a better review, but I have long since realised you can not win them all.

Ian is an amazing tutor who helped Sam reach his goal of attending a Russell Group University to study Chemistry. Thank you Ian !!
Thanks Nicola - i actually never saw this when you wrote it. Sam was a pleasure to teach

From Lorna
The school is greatly appreciative of the work Ian did with a student to take her further maths. We await the results but have no doubt she will be successful. Ian was particularly good at giving her confidence, targeting her weaknesses and ensuring resources were made available to her.
Thank you Lorna

Ian is providing help for my son with physics, maths and chemistry A level. Ian is very knowledgeable, reliable and hard-working and provides excellent support for my son. He has given us some valuable advice about university options and has helped to put my son on the right road for his studies at university. The past papers have also been very much appreciated. Many thanks.

I hired Dr Ian for my son's A'level chemistry and i wished I had done so much earlier! Ian has not just helped with confidence but there has been so many 'aha moments' i have noticed whilst the lectures are on. Lots of past questions ( again supplied by Ian ) has helped a lot and i am confident my son will get intended grades.
If you are fortunate to have Ian as a tutor, congratulations!!!
Best of luck with your choices.
Thank you Adetola
