For the past 7 years I’ve worked as a qualified specialist Mathematics Teacher in a co-ed primary school (Years 4-8) and Maths Tutor to Years 3-11. In my spare time I coach sport teams, play tennis and the drums.
I’ve taught specifically Maths after a Primary PGCE from Cambridge University. I have students at every secondary school in Harpenden, as well as almost all primary schools (which is great as I’ll know what their syllabus is and what’s coming up later in the term :-)).
My first class bachelors degree was also in Education. I have always worked with children in some capacity. Before I lead a Scouts group, and I have spent 6 months in Africa as a volunteer hockey, Maths and English teacher.
I have also been a Kumon Maths tutor in Hertfordshire.
Currently, I teach Maths to school years 4-8 and tutor school years 3-11.
I am an exceptionally positive person and I am a strong believer in the key role that confidence plays in learning. I am very patient and my main aim is to ensure children enjoy learning Maths. Having worked with children with dyslexia and maths processing difficulties, I understand the need to use a multi-sensory approach. I have many learning resources and I like to bring maths to life with these and with drawings. Having taught the entire new Maths curriculum to school years 4-8 and tutored school years 3-11, I am very prepared to best serve your child.
