I am a recent graduate from the University of Bath, having studied Psychology BSc with a placement year spent working in a mental health hospital. I am currently preparing for my career as a mental health clinician, and would love to spend some time tutoring anyone I might be able to help.
I have always loved teaching, particularly enjoying the process of working together with people to find the ways of learning that really make things click. I know from experience that a teacher can be crucial in determining how enjoyable a subject is, which is why I only teach subjects that I am really passionate about so that I might be able to show my students how valuable and interesting these subjects can be.
Succeeding in exams is usually the reason for seeking a tutor, and whilst of course this can be the aim of our tutoring, I also hope to encourage my students to think critically and flexibly through my style of teaching. Whilst learning how to pass exams well is a crucial skill within education systems, it is a much more valuable tool to develop transferrable skills that carry across subjects, exam boards and beyond formal education, in a way that will hopefully allow students to develop a sort of 'inner tutor', such that a tutor will no longer be needed in the future.
My teaching approach is highly flexible, I believe that being able to identify and work with the strengths of each student is crucial to learning. Whilst most familiar with low-tech, student centred approaches, I am comfortable with approaches involving lecturing, use of technology and kinaesthetic methods.
