I hold a PhD in Mathematics and Statistics, as well as a degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education. With over 10 years of experience teaching in a range of secondary schools, I also provide one-to-one tutoring to help students achieve their full potential.
My other qualifications include Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Teaching is my passion because it allows me to inspire and empower students, help them develop a deeper understanding of complex mathematical concepts, and support them in reaching their goals.
Outside of teaching, I have a love for dogs, enjoy cinema, and stay active by running and bike spinning at the gym.
I am a fully qualified teacher with extensive experience teaching Mathematics at all levels, including KS2, KS3, GCSE, A-Level, and university. My past teaching career includes roles at Brunts Academy, Woodlands School, Nottingham Academy, Nottingham Trent University, and the University of Derby. I hold a degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education, which provided comprehensive teacher training and practical experience in diverse classroom settings. I have taught students with varying abilities and confidence levels across several secondary schools.
Currently, I hold a teaching and research position at a university, where I contribute to the BSc Mathematics course. I am the module leader for all statistics modules, including Introduction to Probability and Statistics, Statistical Methods and Regression, and Bayesian Methods. In addition to teaching, I am research-active in the fields of statistics and data science, with multiple publications and presentations at international conferences (see Google Scholar for details).
I believe that every student has the potential to succeed in Mathematics, and my goal as a tutor is to provide a supportive, personalised learning experience tailored to your unique needs. Whether you're building confidence, mastering key concepts, or preparing for exams, I focus on breaking down complex topics into manageable steps and fostering a genuine understanding of the subject. My approach is patient, encouraging, and adaptable, ensuring a safe space for you to ask questions and progress at your own pace. Together, we’ll work to achieve your goals and make Mathematics more approachable and rewarding.
