At present, I have been a private tutor for 11 years and currently deliver GCSE English and Maths to year 10 and 11 students, SATs literacy and numeracy and 'A' level Business as well as SATs booster lessons to year 5 and 6 students.
In the past I have also taught numeracy and literacy to adults wishing to gain qualified teacher status with a 100% pass rate and KS3 English and Maths.
However, I am a qualified teacher with over 35 years teaching experience at both secondary and tertiary age ranges within Dudley and Sandwell schools and colleges. Although Business Studies and ICT were my main subjects I have delivered KS3 English and Maths, KS4 English, often to challenging students or students of low ability. I am committed and hardworking and have enjoyed a successful career in education.
My hobbies include walking, especially with my dog and music. I sing in a choir, play the guitar and ukulele as well as learning how to play the banjo. Other interests include being Secretary of the local Club and a member of the local gym and spa.
I believe learning should be engaging, challenging, inspiring and fun, students should not be afraid of failing in a lesson, sometimes that's the point when they learn the most!
My main roles have been Head of Business Studies, Inclusion Coordinator, Head of Sixth Form, Lead Coordinator for Diplomas in a Dudley Consortium of schools and 14-19 Coordinator. I have been Lead Assessor for BTEC courses as well as assessor for Business Studies, I successfully achieved qualified Chartered Assessor status in 2010.
I have taught in a number of challenging schools and two local tertiary colleges. I have delivered Geography to year 9 students whose teacher was on maternity leave, keyboard and computer skills to adults, English, Mathematics, A level Economics and Business Studies, life skills to low ability students. I have successfully delivered a range and breadth of subjects to a wide range of levels.
I have 7 years experience of private tutoring in English, Mathematics and Businesses Studies, at present I am delivering GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics to a year 10 and a year 11 student as well as QTS skills to a young adult who wishes to become a teacher.
My experience has given me a superior level of skill in identifying weakness within a student and providing a learning plan and supporting resources which will allow them to find success.
My style of teaching has always been student orientated, lead by diagnostic and formal tests with model answers and concise feedback. Students will be able to see from the outset what is to be achieved and how this will be achieved. I aim to establish a hardworking but interesting educational learning environment I am proud to have exceptional classroom management enabling all students to achieve regardless of their level of ability.
