I graduated from the University of East Anglia having done a BA American Literature with Creative Writing and then an MA Studies in Fiction. Since then I have I worked at the BBC and as a teacher at various TEFL/ESOL schools. I am self-employed as an arts practitioner, an ESOL teacher and a tutor. I have run two adult education courses in Creative Writing at Acle and have also run a gifted and talented workshop at Bungay High and several creative writing based workshops in The TARDIS at Chapel Break Infant. I also took part in a week-long creative writing, film and dance workshop at Sheringham Woodfields.
I have a qualification for teaching in the Adult Education sector (PTLLS). While studying in America for one year - as part of my degree - I took a tutoring course, and was selected to be an ethics tutor for my peers. Since graduating I have tutored in GCSE English Literature and Language, GCSE Geography, AS Level Environmental Science and AS and A Level English Literature and Language. More recently I qualified as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language (I gained the CELTA qualification) and have since taught English as a foreign language to primary school children in Italy and to secondary school-aged international young people in Norwich for The English Experience, and am now teaching adults. Finally, I have also qualified as an Arts Award Bronze and Silver Level Advisor.
Different people learn in different ways. If a student does not have a favoured method of studying, I can give various suggestions. Usually with studying - particularly in History, Geography and English - there are two main kinds of knowledge required. The first is an understanding of all the relevant material, and the second is an ability to answer the questions correctly and within the time-limit. It always takes a lot of work. Sometimes it takes a while to understand something but I believe that it is always possible to get there!
