My Name is James Sia 27 years old I'm a bright young fundamentalist with a Bsc in Financial Mathematics I am in my third of tutoring full-time as a subject related specialist.
I offer tuition in Mathematics at all levels listed: KS2 (SATs), KS3, KS4 (GCSE), KS5 (A-Level), Reasoning & Common Entrance (including GMAT). Coming from a finance background I also possess the capacity to teach Economics at GCSE and A-Level.
Being only in my third year I have had sustained periods where I am managing 8 - 10 clients in a week. I put my blood, sweat and tears into every hour of teaching. By going that extra mile this positions me in a space far beyond other tutors/teachers.
Seeing my students confidence and ability heighten both academically and personally ensures me I am doing my job correctly. Seeing the smile on my students faces when they open their results and achieve above and beyond what they have been predicted is what drives my focus and will allow me to continue for the many more years to come, I love it!
I believe in the Fundamental way of life and I carry this view into my practices. By first understanding the beauty of Mathematics you learn to appreciate that every single student sees Mathematics differently. Every student can achieve a grade 7-9. Being a strong fundamentalist it's all about the foundation you set, I have always been a family home with strong rooted foundation I believe this is the key to allow all students/clients to succeed.
I start off by building a base before any tuition to understand and listening to the needs of the student by looking at their strengths and weaknesses. I then give my students an fun insight into why mathematics is beneficial to them and how it can apply to them as I've found a lot of students don't actually understand why they study Mathematics and its rewards they only know they have to, by adopting this fundamental approach students engage from the onset.
Alongside with me being young I am very up to date in my approaches and often use mine & the students everyday life experiences to explain subjects e.g. Social media and averages. Under my guidance this homely approach allows the student to internalise what is being taught and to go and think mathematically about how mathematics is incorporated In other parts of their everyday life. Breaking down each fundamental step one by one and building on it will help build the foundation in knowledge and confidence.
