I am an experienced teacher having taught full-time in schools for twenty years. I have a secondary PGCE in teaching Classics and a Classics degree from Cambridge University. I am easy-going and patient but dedicated and aspirational for the children with whom I work. I am passionate about learning and eager to share my love of learning with young people.
I have taught predominantly in independent prep schools, so have great experience working in KS2 and KS3, especially with Common Entrance and Scholarship entrance exams. However, I have five years experience of tutoring in GCSE English and History as well.
I also tutored KS4 English for a while on The National Tutoring Programme and I am an examiner with WJEC for their English Literature GCSE.
I have taught English, History, Latin and Drama to pupils throughout Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 for twenty years. I am, however, a secondary qualified Cambridge University graduate and, therefore, able to teach to GCSE level.
I have run after-school Latin clubs in schools (primary and secondary) and I am co-director of Fabula Arts, an arts organisation for young people.
I worked also on the National Tutoring Programme, helping GCSE English students.
Teaching young people is about developing a relationship with them - which is best done face to face - and then challenging them to excel. Young people benefit from clarity and from enthusiasm. My input is clear and will challenge pupils to excel. However, every pupil is different so I shall work hard to find what style and method suits each child.
I am willing to travel but will ask for a mileage fee based on the number of miles in excess of ten.
I shall bring all materials and resources and I am polite, punctual and well-prepared.
