I am an experienced Deputy Headteacher at a successful comprehensive school in Southfields, London. I am very passionate about giving young people as great an opportunity as possible to achieve academic success. Without question, it is the job of teachers and tutors to ensure the young people in their charge are given the skills and knowledge to lead successful lives.

Tutoring Experience

I have 20 years teaching experience in secondary schools. My main subject is History, though I also teach Government and Politics. I have had great success in the exam results of my pupils at all ability levels. I have also played a leading role in driving improvement of all pupils in my leadership role, which has seen my current school develop into the leading school in the local area.

Tutoring Approach

It is very important that a teacher is able to quickly identify the areas of need for a pupil. I do this by creating personal learning checklists which identify the elements of a subject that need to be focused on to drive improvement. These areas will then be worked on until the relevant knowledge is learned and retained. I am also very adept in developing pupils' skills with regards to answering exam questions. Having worked extensively with pupils who are reluctant writers, I ensure that the requirements of a question are made clear and practiced to guarantee success.
