Hi, I’m Jamie- a fourth year medical student at UCL having achieved 3 A*’s in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, a top 2% UCAT score (3050) in the 2020 cycle and 3/4 medical school offers.
My tutoring practices are holistic, ranging from topical content and breaking down difficult concepts, practicing exam techniques and crafting study schedules that incorporate active recall and spaced repetition within learning to maximise understanding and retention. Techniques are taught to support a student fully, providing a foundation not solely for A Levels but for future success too. Frequent progress checks alongside access to an extensive flashcard and past paper question bank, ensures that my students are fully equipped to self-study outside lessons.
Having had 7 years of experience tutoring from 11+ students all the way to adult learners has enabled me to practice tailoring my approach to each students’ unique needs that help to simplify difficult concepts.
I have also had plenty of experience aiding a variety of international students achieve a place at their desired school.
Having recently gone through the new and updated GCSE and A level process myself I completely understand the position that secondary school students are in. I see this as an advantage as it has allowed me to see from a student's perspective, what is effective and useful.

A LEVELS
Flexible, ranging from one off drop-in sessions for specific topical work, to regular sessions supported with self-study, help with timetabling and exam technique to those who want extra help with regular homework. Planning and practising early (with regular sessions) is the fundamental foundation of my approach.
• Lessons conducted with the aid of shared digital notebooks, whiteboards, and animations, all aiding in learning and understanding.
When I first take on a student, I also have key concepts that I like set out:
-STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES; Have a chat after the first lesson to determine where the student needs help and what they personally struggle on
-PLANNING; Make a timetabled plan detailing content we will cover, homework set, marks etc. until the start of the first exam
-PRACTICE; Go through the content whilst setting exam questions after every lesson
-UNIVERSITY ADMISSIONS:
- For medical students
- Personal statement advice sessions and complimentary extra checks
- MMI and Interview Prep involving ethics, key topics, interview technique and other advice
- Full mock interviews with verbal and written feedback targeting specific areas to work on.
