I am a qualified teaching professional with many years experience working in schools, as a supply teacher, in face to face individual and group tutoring, and latterly as an online tutor. I teach Maths and English and also have vast experience supporting students as they prepare for entrance exams. Year on year families recommend me to other students and their families. One of my specialities is my ability to put children at ease and to build their confidence, and in teaching older and younger siblings over many years have come to know families very well indeed.
When I first qualified I worked as a Reception Teacher in a school in Bradford, UK. When I had my first child, I stayed at home for a year and then began doing supply work in North Yorkshire, and took on a couple of temporary contracts. Soon after this I began to work from my home as a tutor and my business grew year on year. During the covid lockdown my face to face tutoring was lost, but all of my students still worked with me online, and I have continued to do online teaching ever since.
I have a child-centred approach to teaching and am known for my ability to build confidence in children who are struggling. Always mindful of the school curriculum and what is expected of children, I work to increase their skills whilst enabling the children to keep up with the pressures of schooling. Part of the relationship with the student is with the family too and I view progress as part of a team approach.
