Jane

I was born in Switzerland and lived there as a child and later again when I worked for a number of years for a multinational Swiss company in the French speaking part.

I have always worked extensively in Italy and France always using my languages. My linguistic background and experience enables me to understand the different cultures well and language used. The latter is vital if you are to communicate effectively with other Europeans.

In 2004 I decided to change my career path and started to train as a language teacher which was completed with a teaching degree at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2006.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked at various colleges, Macclesfield, Warrington and Sir John Deane's College delivering adult FE courses from beginners to intermediate. I have continued my FE teaching at Lymm High School and recently started to work for the WEA. I deliver various private language courses at all levels and all ages from primary school age to adults. I have not only experience in delivering holiday/ cultural language courses but also business language courses.
I teach extensively GCSE French/ German and at A level. I also have taught GCSE Italian.

Tutoring Approach

I deliver courses suited to individual needs and geared to their requirements. All lessons are well structured with lesson plans. Students enjoy the lessons whilst achieving their set goals. To achieve this, I use various interactive teaching methods – oral work/ reading/ pronunciation/grammar drills/ written exercises. A one hour lessons covers 4 different areas. Variation is essential as it keeps concentration alive and reinforces different aspects of the learning process. I give students confidence to communicate in the target language. Individual support along with personalised resources are given at each lesson.
