Hello, my name is Jason, and I am a Research Psychologist.
I specialise in Psychology, SPSS, JASP, research methods, statistics and general study skills.
A little about me
Prior to my return to education, I had a long and successful career in IT. I was an IT/IS manager for a very large market research company (Network Research and Marketing Limited) in London as well as Director of Operations for PC Solutions. During this time, I worked on high-level projects for a diverse set of clients including the National Library of Wales, the Thompson Group, House of Lords, Microsoft, Intel, and Volvo amongst others.
I returned to university to undertake a BSc in Counselling Studies and Psychology (BPS approved). Leaving with a First Class (Hons) degree, I then achieved a distinction in Research Methods in Psychology (MSc), and as of October 2019 I am working towards a PhD in “Detection and Prevention of Online Child Sexual Abuse: Understanding children’s vulnerabilities and strengths”, researching my first book on “Parametric and non-parametric tests by hand” as well as providing consulting services in relation to protecting children from being groomed online.
Post degree, I worked within the charity sector for Wales’s primary mental health charity Hafal, working on a stakeholder-inspired, National Lottery-funded project advising the current Welsh Government administration, the NHS and organisations within the public and private sector on mental health policies in relation to psychological (talking) therapies.

Availability
I am available for tutoring on most evenings and weekends, and I am happy to tutor both face to face and over Skype or Zoom. I also have a Whatsapp group for short queries or group bookings.
I have tutored numerous students in Counselling principles, Psychology and Research Methods/Statistics with considerable success, particularly in getting undergraduate students through their dissertations.
I have also developed and delivered a mental health advocacy training course to, Welsh Government, NHS, Carers, and large organisations such as DVLA.
As well as, developed a professional training course – Introducing people with serious and enduring mental illness to professional counsellors working within the private sector.
Experience in: SPSS, Research Methods, NVivo, Qualitative, Quantitative, Psychology, Non-Parametric, Parametric, Dissertation, Assignments, Literature review, Counselling.
My main approach is to encourage the student to construct their own understanding of the subject by breaking that subject down into small bite-size chunks, which, through the use of a mindmap the student then fits together like a jigsaw to construct his/her own understanding/picture.
