Hello, I’m Jay! I’m currently a software engineer building complex distributed systems to create the future of crypto payments. In the past I’ve also worked on banking technology and as a data scientist. In my spare time I also like to work on personal projects such as a smart thermostat running from my raspberry pi.
I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2020 with a First Class and an average of 78% in my final year studying Computer Science. My research was primarily based on using Natural Language Processing techniques on social media data to generate more meaningful data points to be used in machine learning models to predict the market.
I have experience mentoring and tutoring students, interns and graduates specialising in computer science (theoretical and practical topics). I also have experience in technical/competency preparation for securing roles in tech companies, banking roles and fintech companies.
Here are some topics I am interested in:
• Software Engineering
• Data Science
• Intelligent Agents
• Distributed Systems
• Cloud Computing
• Algorithms & Graphs
• Databases
• Operating Systems & Concurrency
• Security
• System Design
I believe that a practical approach towards learning is important when it comes to Computer Science. Reinforcing theory with real examples helps to gain an in depth understanding of any given topic. Every student has a different approach towards learning. Our lessons will be tailored to your learning style whilst also being flexible to try out different learning styles to help you discover what approaches suit you best to make you an effective learner.
