A warm welcome to students and parents,
I mainly offer one to one tuition services- however sometimes group sessions can also be provided.
Teaching has always been my passion and now I am very delighted that I can use my teaching ability to help children achieve their full potential on an everyday basis.
I have been tutoring children over the last five years from Nursery to GCSE level within the Coventry area. I have also worked within a number of schools as a full time qualified teacher.
Consequently, I always receive positive feedback from clients with my most memorable being "Miss J always goes that extra mile to help bridge the gaps in one's academic learning journey."
Having moved from secondary school, straight to completing my A-levels and then onto university, I have developed a wide range of knowledge in helping children tackle their weaknesses, embrace their strengths and take pride in their learning achievements.
Tutoring is currently my full time profession, which has enabled me through time to develop carefully chosen activities to maximise every child's learning potential. After graduating with a teaching degree from university, I decided to go straight into teaching in schools. I really enjoyed this and developed many skills within the teaching world. After sometime, I decided I wanted to help children on a 1:1 basis as this method was so effective for those children that would not show their potential in school, or for those who were shy...or where teachers would not be able to pay attention to specific children because of the thirty in the class. Now, I teach children at diverse levels and I really enjoy it.
Within this five year period, I have taught and excelled over 200 students at different times. This has been really rewarding for me, as I am a natural teacher at heart and I really do take my work seriously.
In addition, I have also had 3 years of university experience in the world of teaching, covering all aspects of the national curriculum, assessments and independent learning strategies to challenge children.
Every term, I give children mock term assessments as integral preparation to help consolidate their learning. This enables me to know how much they have learnt from my sessions and what areas they still need to improve on. This method is also the key for exam success.
My approach to tutoring is very systematic, however at the same time I adapt to the specific child's needs. Every child I have tutored so far, I have built a bond with. I hold a fair, firm and fun attitude towards learning.
The key services I offer on a regular basis within my tuition sessions are: block spelling tests, reading books every week depending on ability, phonics practice for the younger children to prepare for their year 1 phonics tests, 11+ entrance exams prep and finally, previous exam practice materials in all core subjects for KS1, KS2, KS3 and GCSE.
Rewards:
I reward children for their hard work through different motivational techniques and prizes, through a tally chart system.
Homework:
Every session entails 2-3 pieces of homework, where parents are given full written or verbal feedback.
Travel:
I usually travel to clients residence or sometimes they come to my residence.
My aim is to not only teach children but to also help them enjoy their learning, by creating a safe, fun and secure learning environment.
Thank you for taking out the time to read my profile.
Miss Jay
