I have been told I am an inspirational teacher of English Language and English Literature, and create engaging, stimulating lessons, designed to increase KS3, KS4 and KS5 grades. I provide constructive feedback on assessments, classwork, reading assignments, and home study. I have experience teaching/tutoring A Level, IGCSE, GCSE, KS3 and KS2. I am also an AQA Associate Examiner, and have extensive teaching experience in the both the state and private sector.
I have over 20 years teaching experience, many as Head of English. My marking is recognised by Ofsted as being 'Outstanding and personalised, with ongoing teacher/student dialogue.' Following Ofsted recommendations, my departmental marking policy was adopted fully by all subjects and made school policy.
I build positive student/teacher relationships by providing a supportive, helpful, friendly learning environment, and believe that instilling self-belief, confidence and aspiration is absolutely key to raising attainment. I provide all resources and they are included in the fee. I am also happy to provide close marking feedback on work/exercises set in-between lessons. Equally, to assist affordability for parents, I am happy to tutor students in pairs, or up to a class of four, at a reduced rate per student. Please contact me for further advice/ guidance about this.
