My son has had 3 lessons with Jeff so far.
When I first contacted Jeff, he responded to my questions very quickly. Jeff has a good understanding of the different exam boards. Before his lessons with Jeff, my son had reservations about taking Computing for his GSCEs but since starting with Jeff, he has begun to enjoy it. Jeff delivers great lessons with key points and makes it enjoyable for the student.

**Update 24/8/24: My son achieved a grade 9 in his GCSEs and I can confidently say that Jeff was a huge support and propelled my son to achieve this.

Having not had a regular teacher in school for Computer Science my daughter wasn't feeling very confident about this subject going into her GCSE year. Finding Jeff has been fantastic, can highly recommend him. He has only been tutoring my daughter for a few weeks but already she feels more confident with her increased knowledge and understanding. She looks forward to the tutor session which Jeff makes fun and informative.
Update August 2024- My daughter got a grade 8 in computer Science, she is very pleased and enjoys the subject so much she's going to take it at A level, all of this is down to Jeff, thank you!

We approached Jeff after reading his profile and reviews on First Tutors. After having had a couple of lessons we found him to be very professional and thorough with his teaching. He understood my daughter's needs and his method of teaching is excellent.

We received our daughter’s GCSE result today. She achieved a high grade 8 in computer studies thanks to Jeff’s excellent teaching. Our daughter has recently started lessons with Jeff and is already feeling more confident and happier with the subject. Jeff carefully went through the exam specification identifying with her areas which she felt were weaker in a supportive manner. Lessons have been focussed on strengthening her understanding, building on what she knows already whilst focussing on exam technique for each topic. Feedback from our daughter is extremely positive - she enjoys the lessons and finds the homework consolidates what she has learnt - this is marked promptly so she can review it before the next lesson. We would not hesitate to recommend Jeff and have found him to be extremely organised and effective as a tutor.

Update August 2024 - our daughter got a 9 in her GCSE. Prior to starting tuition with Jeff, she felt low in confidence and felt there were significant gaps in her understanding. By the time she sat her exam she was very positive and the question practice she had from Jeff in the run up to the exam ensured she was well-prepared. We have been incredibly impressed with how Jeff has worked with her and he is already tutoring another daughter for the same exam next year. Huge thanks Jeff.

Jeff is a very engaging teacher. My son is interested in Computer Science, didn't take it as an option at school, but was interested in learning coding and understanding the GCSE requirements should he choose to take it outside of school.

Jeff provided clear and strong learning materials, taught my son to the curriculum and gave him confidence that he understaood requirements and, importabtly, confidence in his abilities.

Jeff is extremely patient and explains all content with me in full detail and he also records the videos for me to store and revise if needed. This is extremely helpful as I often forget information due to my cognitive difficulties. I am very happy with the service from him and would highly recommend his sessions for anyone to relearn and feel confident in their I.T skills

Jeff has been instrumental in helping my daughter secure a 9 at her GCSE: in a very short time (a couple of months with a weekly session) he helped Mae develop her understanding of Computer science while giving her regularly practice papers: she moved from dreading computer science exams to feeling very ready on the exam day :) She clearly didn’t get that from school so I am super grateful for Jeff for his incredible efficiency in preparing Mae for her GCSE in such a short time!

My son wanted to do an extra GCSE. Jeff helps my son completed the whole spec in one year. He is only in year 9, and achieved a grade 7. We are over the moon. I highly recommend Jeff, he knows exactly how to get the best of his students.

Jeff has been tutoring our eldest son ahead of his GCSEs this year. Our son changed schools and his new one did not offer Computer Science at GCSE, we needed to find a tutor to help so he could continue to do the exam.

Jeff took this on for us and has been nothing short of brilliant, providing online and physical materials for our son to work from. Our son has built a very respectful and motivational rapport with Jeff, and has been very engaged in his online lessons. The one to one nature means our son is learning more quickly and is able to obtain much greater depth than perhaps he could in a large group.

What has been particularly helpful for us is the ability to tailor the lessons. For instance, Jeff has provided our son with more time to review past GCSE papers, to revisit different topics and is training our son to understand and handle the questions - always the trickiest part of taking an exam.

We'd have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Jeff and hope that he can continue to share his amazing teaching skills with other students in future.

Our son achieved a grade 7 for GSCE thanks to Jeff. He was predicted a 6. He is over the moon and so are we, he couldn't have done it without him. He was also one of the first people to contact us on results day to check in with our son and congratulate him.

A really nice man, who knows his stuff regarding the subject, but also understand the pupil he is tutoring and can help tailor to their requirements.

Jeff has only just started tutoring my son, but he has already made a positive impact. My son is low in confidence in programming, but after just 3 lessons he has been saying how it makes much more sense now and he comes away from the lessons enthused and motivated. He is professional experienced and has impressive coaching and soft skills.

My son performs excellently well in mathematics and he is in the top set at school; but unfortunately, he struggles in Computer Science (CS), particularly programming. After checking different CS tutors online, I settled for Jeff to prepare my son for GCSE.

To begin the class, Jeff requested a tripartite meeting (my son, and we the parents) for the purpose of establishing what my son’s challenges are with CS and our expectations as the parents.

Jeff has been teaching my son for about a month now. Jeff’s approach to problem-solving and the way he explains the difficult areas has resulted in my son viewing CS (programming) as more interesting and becoming more confident than when he started about a month ago.

Jeff is very knowledgeable and tutors my son in the way he learns best. My son gets on really well with Jeff, enjoying his lessons and his CS is definitely improving a lot.

We would surely recommend Jeff as an excellent tutor for anyone needing a grounding in CS and advancing from there.

Jeff is really helping my son overcome some of the blocks he was experiencing in computing. His thorough knowledge of the OCR syllabus and exam structure is really helping him understand problems in the context of the exams. Thank you.

Finding the right tutor has been tricky as my son required a stand alone subject being taught in isolation from the school rather than the more common supplementary tutelage.

Being a full time teacher and the head of Computer Science at his school, Jeff was the perfect choice.

His communication has been friendly and prompt and has really made setting up the process very easy.

Jeff was able to advise what subject material was required and sent links through for where to purchase it from, he has also developed his own supplementary textbook to aid the learning.

I have watched some of the recordings and they really do get through a lot of content - most of which sails comfortably over my head… Finally and most importantly, he and my son get on well and my son is really enjoying the subject. I would definitely recommend Jeff to anyone looking for a tutor in the subjects he covers.

Jeff is organised and focused. He is an experienced teacher who can provide clear outlines and objectives for students. My son was impressed with the clarity and pace of the classes and finally achieved an A grade. We were pleased with that since he took the IGCSE course in one year. Jeff's support was valuable.

My son (last year A level computing) has only just started working with Jeff. He is extremely positive about these sessions and comes away excited and talking about what he has learned in a way I have never seen before. He has already covered a-lot of material with Jeff, filling gaps left by teaching in COVID. Updated August: Rob has now just got his grade an A*, which I'm sure he wouldn't have got with out Jeff. He came to Jeff a few months before the exams demoralised by poor ongoing staff absences and poor online teaching, having only done a fraction of this course. Jeff took him through a huge amount of content whilst enthusing him and engaging him in his A level (for the first time really). We also really appreciated the time Jeff took outside the lessons to mark Rob's work and provide material.

I contacted Jeff for some help for my son with a few topics as he approached his final exams for A-level Computer Science. Jeff has a friendly personality. Jeff explained the topics in a way that really worked for my son allowing him to fill gaps in his knowledge. I can highly recommend Jeff.

My son received his A-level results today. His predicted grade (prior to Jeff's involvement) was B but he achieved an A*! He was the only one in his class to do so. I am convinced that this would not have happened without Jeff's input. We are extremely pleased with the help that Jeff was able to provide and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone that needs some extra help with Computer Science.

Jeff has been helping my son with A level Computer Science for about 6 weeks. He has helped my son in particular with his understanding of coding and already he has improved his test scores from 40% to 60%. Jeff is personable, good at communication and organised. Jeff is a great Computer Science tutor. He is very experienced and patient. My son is not the easiest to teach and had low confidence in programming. Jeff was able to identify his gaps and learning style accurately and adapt his approach effectively. My son is always comfortable to learn from him has made.noticeable progress in programming. Jeff has been working with my son on GCSE Computer Science for the past few months. During this time it has been great to see my son finding his passion for the subject again and seeing his confidence and grades improve. Update May 2020 - We contacted Jeff to home tutor our son in GCSE Computer Science in August 2019. Our son wanted to sit the exam in the Summer 2020. At our initial meeting, Jeff verbally assessed our son for his level of knowledge of the subject as a starting point for the tutoring.

Jeff then organised a strict plan of weekly lessons and tasks to cover, including the programming aspects of the course, in order for our son to gain all the knowledge and practice required to pass the exam.

Jeff is a very kind, patient and experienced teacher who motivated our son to work hard and do his best. Our son looked forward to the lessons every week and due to Jeff’s clear and concise teaching methods picked up the content very quickly. Jeff regularly revisited topics via informal assessments to make sure our son retained the knowledge taught. We are looking forward to our sons results in August and are positive he will gain a good GCSE grade.

We would highly recommend Jeff as a tutor, he is very experienced, as well as organised, trustworthy, reliable and punctual. As well as being a great teacher, he is also very kind and patient with the students and will bring the best out of them. On occasion when we have had to change a lesson he is also flexible with organising replacement lessons. Overall we are really pleased and grateful to Jeff for teaching our son and inspiring him to continue on to A Level Computer Science.

Jeff has been tutoring our 15 year old son in GCSE Computer Science for just over 6 months now. We have found him to be incredibly enthusiastic, knowledgeable and proficient. He has completely turned our son around from someone who massively lacked confidence (due to the fact his school teacher actually called me for permission to remove him from the subject as he felt he lacked ability to even pass!!) to a child who has not only begun to thoroughly enjoy his lessons, but has become so enthused with confidence that he has made huge advances in his grades. Jeff has the ability to not only identify talent in his pupils (that has otherwise been overlooked) but has the ability to develop and cultivate that potential in order to allow a child to grow and prosper.

His attention to detail is second to none and we feel we are in very safe hands in terms of his knowledge of the syllabus and the examiners expectations.
Overall we feel that Jeff has not only helped our son with the task at hand (passing his GCSE) but has also equipped him with the confidence to want to pursue Computer Science as a future career!
