I am a highly experienced English teacher and tutor with over 15 years of success in preparing students for 11+, 13+, GCSE, A Level, and IB examinations. I have helped students secure places at some of the UK’s most prestigious schools, including Eton, Harrow, St Paul’s, Winchester, St Paul’s Girls’, and Brighton College.
I hold a Master’s in English Literature from Newcastle University and a PGCE in Secondary English from the University of Leeds. More recently, I completed a Doctorate in Education, and I enjoy applying the latest educational research to my teaching, ensuring that students receive high-quality, tailored tuition.
Passionate about literature, I love inspiring students to engage deeply with texts, develop their analytical skills, and build confidence in their writing. My approach is structured, supportive, and designed to help each student reach their full potential.
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
I have taught in a range of schools both in the UK and internationally, working with students from diverse backgrounds across the globe. Alongside my teaching career, I have extensive experience as a one-to-one tutor, helping students achieve their academic goals—whether securing a place at their chosen secondary school, excelling in GCSEs or A Levels, or building confidence and essential skills in English.
As an examiner for Cambridge International Examinations and AQA, I have an in-depth understanding of what is required to attain top grades in GCSE and IGCSE English Language and Literature. This insight allows me to guide students effectively, equipping them with the knowledge and exam techniques needed to excel.
I believe that a strong tutor-student relationship is the foundation for academic success. By creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment, I help students develop confidence in their English skills while fostering a genuine enjoyment of the subject.
My lessons are fully tailored to each student’s individual needs—whether they are preparing for a critical examination, aiming for top grades, or seeking to build confidence in reading and writing. I use a diverse range of texts and resources to ensure lessons are both challenging and engaging, equipping students with the skills and strategies they need to excel.
With my experience as an examiner, I provide valuable insight into what is required to achieve high marks, ensuring that students not only grasp key concepts but also understand how to apply them effectively in assessments. My structured yet adaptable approach empowers students to take ownership of their learning and achieve their full potential.
