I am a friendly and very approachable qualified primary teacher. My own 3 children are enjoying and excelling in school.
I achieved a high 2:1 for my undergraduate degree - a BA (QTS) with Disability Studies.
I have spent 5 years working in schools in which I have gained extensive experience working with pupils from year 1 through to year 6, of all ability levels. I have a proven record of supporting struggling pupils in 'catch up' lessons as well as challenging more able pupils to extend their learning further. Children request to have lessons with me as they say I am 'kind and helpful' and deliver lessons in a 'fun way'. I strive to build academic confidence in all children as this is often a major barrier to learning.
After I had my 3rd child I spent a few years tutoring children 1:1, in small groups and online. I have always received positive feedback from my tuition and also from formal lesson observations in the classroom.
My approach in any teaching I undertake is tailored to each individual child. I also continually adapt approaches to ensure children have a good understanding. I am a friendly and calm person and I like to get to know my tutees and make them feel at ease, as I understand working 1:1 with an adult could be quite intimidating. I value the child's own ideas and input into their learning as this helps to build mutual respect and trust.
