• Extensive experience helping students 1-1 with close reading, essay research and writing, referencing, proofreading, revision and exam technique.
• Experience tailoring and adapting support to individual and additional needs including physical impairment, mental health, Dyslexia , ADHD, ASD, mature students returning to education, catch up after prolonged absence.
• I have studied and worked within HE and have experience supporting students with UCAS applications, interview preparation and personal statements.
• In my spare time I love reading including classics and modern classics of a variety of genres.

Tutoring Experience

• Currently employed within an Inclusive Learning department within a College supporting students with additional learning needs to receive the adapted learning experience they require detailed on their personal learning support plan.
• This involves 1-1 support in class to break information down into manageable, accessible chunks and 1-1 study guidance outside class including support with use of assistive technology, time management, motivation, confidence building, management of coursework, help to research and write essays / project work in line with unit requirements and learning outcomes.

• I have supported students across all College subjects to succeed with their course through extra 1-1 guidance. This has included Health and Social Care, Social Science, Photography, essential Literacy, Numeracy and ICT classes.

• I enjoy tutoring online and making use of screen share, file share, audio and typed interaction according to student preference.

• Prior to this I have worked in Higher Education supporting students with additional needs 1-1 and provided 1-1 academic support tutorials at a university preparation college for international students. I have also worked at a private after school tuition service supporting 4-16 year olds with additional English, including reading comprehension and writing tasks.

• My 1st Class BA Human Geography degree combined study of Sociological and Psychological Concepts including theories of learning and thinking, research methods and theoretical perspectives. I became interested in how individuals learn and spent 2 years researching additional learning needs and literacy tuition at a university alongside voluntary work with ESOL adult learners.

• I am able to use my varied experience to deliver personalised 1-1 support always listening closely to each individual student's preferences and areas of concern to help build the confidence required to approach academic tasks.

Tutoring Approach

• Personalised and patient support tailored to individual preferences, interests and learning style making use of assistive technology and apps where applicable.
• Frequent updates on what we have been working on during a session provided to student/parent. Input on specific areas a student would like to work on and feedback encouraged.
• I aim to respond to all correspondence about the support I provide within 48 hours.
