I am a very friendly approachable person with a love of Science and an enthusiasm to help young people both understand and enjoy it as a subject. I have taught for over 35 years in 6 different schools and have a wealth of experience helping students, between the ages of 11 and 16 and all abilities, to understand Science and achieve their highest potential. I am a very committed, conscientious and hardworking person who is willing to go the extra mile for my students.
I have been a teacher of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, to GCSE level, for over 35 years and also a Head of Science for nearly two thirds of that time.
I am also an AQA examiner for GCSE Physics
I believe tutoring works best when you identify a students weak areas and then work to build their knowledge, understanding and confidence in those areas in ways which are relevant and interesting to the student.
I would plan a program that met the students personal needs and work through it at a pace that suited the student but which also allowed them to see they were making real progress thus building their confidence.
It would also be important to allow them to practice exam technique as this is frequently a stumbling block to exam success.
