I love to teach! I really enjoy not only sharing my love and passion of history with my students but also helping them achieve their academic goals.
I qualified 4 years ago as a History Teacher and in only my second year of teaching I became Head of Department. Over the years I have taught in numerous schools and have helped many students including SEN students achieve or exceed their target grades in both GCSE and A level History. I have designed curriculums and lessons specifically catered for students to experience a large breadth of history but also depth in terms of exam questions and structuring. I have been on many courses run by the exam boards to understand exactly what the examiners are looking for to achieve those top marks - in my recent GCSE class I had 12 students gain levels 7,8 and 9 and at A level a large majority achieved grades B-A*.
History is all about learning the narratives of the past and through my teaching methods I try to get students to enjoy a love of story telling in order to grasp second order concepts such as cause and consequence. History is all about analysing evidence and interpretations of the past allowing you to form your own opinions and judgements of historical material. I try to provide as many opportunities as I can for students to use these skills to become young independent thinkers. I can tailor tutoring sessions to suit the child's particular needs and learning styles and provide resources for independent study
