I am an experienced tutor, specialising in English Literature and Language, in which I hold a BA (Hons) from University College London. I am currently working at a legal organisation in Washington DC, and thus wish to advertise online tuition services, as I can no longer provide home visits to UK clients. As of September 2019, I will attend Law School to complete the Graduate Diploma of Law.
I was honoured to receive a multitude of awards at school and university, acknowledging my academic ability. These are detailed as follows:
• 2017 - UCL's Elsie Hitchcock prize for exceptional Literary Linguistics (technical analysis of literature) ability in Removed
• 2015-16 - Commendations for exemplary university work in both my First and Second year at university.
• 2014 - Westminster School's Finalist English Prize.
• 2014 - The John Locke prize for a prize-winning interdisciplinary essay.
• 2014 - The Gibbon Prize for historical ability.
• 2012 - Channing School's English Prize.
I have tutored over 20 students for over 5 years, helping my students to achieve success in university applications and interview prep, English A Level, English GCSE, 11+ and Common Entrance and general Secondary and Primary School support. I began offering e-tuition services at the request of my clients for whom I had previously provided home tuition sessions. In 2017-2018, I worked at a law firm in Sydney, Australia, and started up my e-tuition business with current students. I now wish to expand my services to clients across the world who would be interested in my expertise.
I have extensive experience with children outside of a tuition setting. I have worked as a mentor for Debate Mate, the organisation which teaches children from low-income backgrounds the skills of debating and public speaking. I have also volunteered extensively for groups such as the social enterprise WAVE Café, which work alongside young people with learning disabilities to empower and equip them with skills for employment.
I provide constructive, bespoke lessons for each student, with extensive feedback for parents and personalised homework. I aim to design holistic lessons for my students, combining exam technique and technical grammatical lessons with an exploration of creativity and literature. I hope to invigorate and inspire my students, and have had sensational feedback from parents who have credited my influence on their children's attitude as well as grades.
My fee includes external homework marking and feedback, and my extensive lesson planning. My timings can work around the student, and I can be flexible if schedules require changing times each week.
