I am a highly experienced and successful secondary school Geography Lead Practitioner who has gained consistently exemplary GCSE and A Level outcomes for my students over my 17 year career.
I have worked as a fully qualified Geography secondary school teacher since 2009 across three different schools. I have taught all key stages and have a track record of consistently excellent GCSE and A Level results. I have experience of various exam boards. In my career I have worked for three years as a Head of Geography and nine years as a whole school Assistant Headteacher. I am currently a Lead Practitioner, a title given to teachers who are nationally regarded as being excellent practitioners.
My teaching style is based around the key principles of relationships, challenge and assessment. Throughout my career I have succeeded in developing very positive relationships with my students, making them feel excited about the subject and confident in their ability to learn and succeed. My teaching style is also based around challenge and the belief that all students can achieve the highest grades. Therefore my lessons are always pitched to a high level with the necessary structured steps planned throughout to allow students to reach the highest level. Finally, through assessment I am continually checking my students' learning throughout my lessons to ensure they understand. Learning is only enjoyable if you understand what you being taught and my extensive experience of geography teaching allows me to effectively check and challenge throughout lessons.
