Tutoring Approach

As an experienced English tutor I offer support to students looking to improve their prospects in national and independent school English exams, including the 11+, 13+, GCSE and A-Level.

Tuition is always tailored to student's needs, from short courses prioritising exam technique to extended study that will broaden student's appreciation of a subject more generally – giving them the confidence and depth of knowledge necessary to excel in the challenging interviews required by private schools and leading universities.

Please note: prices for in person lessons £80 p/h for online £50 p/h or £65 for 90 minutes.

I prepare bespoke lessons and resources:

  • For exams (SATs, 11+, independent school entrance, GCSE, A-level)

  • To develop greater subject understanding (particularly for parents whose children may be considering studying English at university)

  • To improve schoolwork generally (focusing on comprehension, grammar and essay-writing in other subjects)

  • To encourage reading and writing outside education (including English as a second language)

  • For interviews (private schools and leading universities)
