I am an enthusiastic and dedicated Primary School Teacher. I live and work in Brighton but I am happy to travel further a field. I am friendly and smiley and really enjoy working with children and young people. I am passionate about education and learning and I am committed to planning exciting and fun lessons.

Tutoring Experience

I am a qualified teacher; with a BA HONS in Education. I have ten years teaching experience. Most recently; I have been based in lower key stage two but have also be taught across the whole primary phase including upper Key Stage 2. I have prepared children for the phonics screening check and Year 2 and Year 6 SATs. I have a proven track record of achieving excellent for the children in my class. I have taught in International Schools where part of my role was to support students with English as a second language. I have taught children with additional needs and more able students. As well as teaching in Primary Schools across Brighton and Hove, I also have many years experience as a private tutor. I have worked with children from year 1 to year 7 and found this work incredibly enjoyable and rewarding. My students have made great progress in reading, writing and maths but their enjoyment and confidence in learning has also increased. I always ensure that my lessons are inclusive and all learners needs are met and each student is valued.

Tutoring Approach

I build friendly and positive relationships with my students. I believe that getting to know and understanding a pupil underpins successful learning. I create personal, fun and engaging lessons for children. I can use my knowledge of assessment to challenge and stretch a student or to consolidate learning. My lessons are always practical and hands on to support children's understanding and to make activities meaningful. My students really enjoy playing games and completing challenges.
To support children's writing skills, I make sure they write about their interests and use pictures, objects and videos as a stimulus. In mathematics, I always use practical resources and encourage my tutees to apply their understanding in problem solving questions. Leaning is never dull!
I provide lots of positive feedback to children and make sure they know how they are doing well. I celebrate children's success and help them to achieve their very best.
