I am a Canadian living in the UK, and hold a PhD high energy physics from University College London. Previously I've done a Masters in Physics joint at Oxford University and Imperial College London, and a Bachelor's in Physics at the University of Toronto.
I currently work as a Data Scientist at an Artificial Intelligence Consultancy in London. My day to day work consists mainly of coding and machine learning.
I have been tutoring for over a decade, and have tutored various subjects including maths, physics, chemistry, biology, and english. My specialties are the science and math subjects. I tutor anywhere from start of secondary school all the way to university level courses. I have a lot of experience aiding students with their GCSE and A-level exams, as well as university maths/physics exams.
My approach to tutoring is that the student and the tutor should work cohesively to find a learning method that works best. Every student is different, and should be treated uniquely. Whether they prefer more lessons or more on-hands problem solving is up to them, I am quite flexible in how I teach and want the student to feel like they are getting the most out of the session. I also believe that patience is a key factor in being a good tutor. I generally always encourage as many questions as possible (students are sometimes shy to ask!) and make sure the student is up to speed before I move on to a new topic. Finally, I also like to have a firm but still friendly approach in my teaching, so that the student feels motivated but not over-stressed for the tutoring sessions. In the past, I've only had 2 or 3 at maximum students throughout the year, to make sure I can focus my sole attention on them and their success!
