I am a highly experienced Mathematics educator with 16+ years of teaching experience across school and undergraduate levels. Previously, I was an Assistant Professor at the University of Warwick, where I designed and delivered a Year 2 Engineering Mathematics course for the Business School, focusing on the Mathematics of Artificial Intelligence, including K-nearest neighbour algorithms, clustering, and programming applications.
I have also served as Deputy Head of Mathematics Departments and Head of Key Stage 5, giving me extensive experience in curriculum design, student progression, and preparing learners for top-tier examinations. I hold a strong degree in Mathematics, with specialisms in statistics and quantum computation, and am passionate about nurturing confident, independent learners while delivering rigorous, challenging tuition tailored to each student’s needs.
I have taught across a wide range of levels, from early secondary to undergraduate Mathematics, giving me a deep understanding of how students develop numeracy, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills. I have tutored many pupils one-to-one, building their confidence and mastery in the new 9-1 GCSE and 2017 A level specifications, including Further Mathematics.
I specialise in supporting high-achieving students aiming for top university placements. My students have successfully sat STEP, MAT, and TMUA, and have been accepted into Oxbridge and other prestigious institutions. I have enjoyed seeing pupils make excellent progress and achieve top grades through targeted tuition and structured support.
My tutoring approach begins with a thorough assessment of each student’s current understanding. I review examples of work and assessments to identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for growth. I emphasise positives to create a confident and motivating learning environment.
I focus on building resilience, independent thinking, and problem-solving ability, progressively challenging students to push boundaries while consolidating core knowledge. Homework and practice tasks reinforce concepts covered in lessons, ensuring continuous improvement.
I provide fully online tuition via ClassIn, an advanced platform that replicates pen-and-paper working in real time, allowing clear explanations of complex mathematical notation and concepts. This makes online lessons highly effective and interactive for students of all levels.
