Mature student working on my BSc. Computer Science.
I'm very passionate when it comes to programming, and love exploring new languages and new ways of coding. I'm a big advocate of free & open source software, a devotee of (neo)vim, and a full time Linux user.
I have experience helping students with programming principles right up to undergrad, backed by 15+ years personal experience.
Along with proficiency in a wide variety of languages (C, Java, Python, C#, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, etc.) I'm very comfortable working from the terminal, using Git, working in Linux, etc, and so can also offer guidance and support with these general skills if needed.
Everyone's depth of understanding when it comes to computers and programming principles differs a lot, but I'm a firm believer that understanding fundamental concepts and techniques is all you need to move comfortably between different languages and domains.
I aim to determine where a student is in their understanding, help them build a solid theoretical foundation of their language of choice, and help them to establish the skills they will need to independently learn how to do whatever they need with it (and hopefully with any other language they move on to!).
