I have an excellent academic track record, having achieved 12 A*s at GCSE, 4 As at A-level and a 1st class Honours degree (Natural Sciences) from Cambridge University. I also have an MA(Ed) in Education from Durham University. I am an experienced A-level teacher and examiner and enjoy helping young people achieve success.
As well as offering academic tuition in Biology, I offer very thorough coaching to students preparing their UCAS personal statements for university entry.
I have over 18 years of teaching experience, including several as Head of Science in two local secondary schools. I now teach part-time (mainly A-level Biology - AQA specification) whilst leading our school's UCAS / university process. My students' exam results are consistently on or above target and my understanding of exam requirements have been enhanced by my experience as an A-level examiner.
Through my UCAS and personal statement work, I have an excellent track record of helping students to attain University offers at high ranking institutions.
I focus on a thorough understanding of the exam board specification and how to match this knowledge and understanding to exam questions.
My approach to tutoring uses strategies that have been successfully applied with my own exam classes over many years. Above all, I'm friendly but have high expectations.
Coaching for UCAS / university personal statements is also available can be tailored to your individual needs.
