I am a qualified teacher and highly experienced tutor of Mathematics. I work closely with parents and students to really focus on the individual student's needs and remove obstacles from their learning. Through direct engagement with the subject matter in varied, interesting and creative ways I have helped many children and adults raise their level of understanding, confidence and self-belief in maths.
6 Years in-school and college teaching, 6 years alternative education provision (1:1 and small groups) for local authority, 14 years 1:1 tutoring. I have taught students from ages 6 to adult, including many with special needs such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia and Aspergers Syndrome. Most of my teaching in the recent years has been in Maths (KS1 to GCSE). I have also taught English/literacy, EFL/ESOL, German, Spanish and French.
I invest a great deal in the initial needs assessment of the student, in close consultation with parents and the students themselves. This is continuously reviewed in consultation with student, parents and often their school. We set clear targets, and there are regular progress reviews based on these targets with students and parents. Work in tutorials and between tutorials is focused on these targets.
