English and History Tutoring in Bloomsbury

I am a second year undergraduate at the London School of Economics, studying International Relations and History. Last year I achieved a 1st in International Relations and a 2:1 in History, with a high 2:1 overall. At A level I studied History, Politics, Religious Studies and English, achieving 3 A*s and an A in these subjects. Having come second in the 2014/15 national final, I am now a committed member of the Debating Matters Alumni team. This role has involved organising both debating competitions, from local heats to regional finals, and working with young adults to encourage the development of important skills that can be gained through debating.

By being both a London student and also living in London, I am able to tutor throughout the year, not just during term time or holidays.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked with an array of age groups in a variety of scenarios, from helping primary school children develop their reading skills in charity programs, to teaching young adults how to debate. This range of experience means that I can work with a variety of people. It also means I can tailor the tutoring sessions to your personal needs so that you can get exactly what you want out of them.

Tutoring Approach

The nature of the subjects I would be tutoring demands high tutee participation. This means that as well as teaching my tutee, much of the lessons would also be spent helping the tutee both gain and develop confidence in expressing arguments and ideas that they have created themselves. Furthermore, the nature of exams and coursework means that much time would also be dedicated to developing the essay skills that are so key for any student to excel. Also, if requested, focus can be given on revision techniques as efficient and effective revision is key for success in any exam.
