I have 14 years experience as a secondary school Maths teacher and currently teach in a school for 11-16 year olds, which I really enjoy. I live in Chester and have children at secondary school and Universuty. Prior to working as a Teacher, I worked in the pharmaceutical industry with a background in Chemistry. I switched to teaching Maths in 2008, as I enjoy numbers and data and I haven't looked back since. I believe Maths is a fun subject and I try to make lessons as interesting as possible and my goal is for everyone to achieve their full potential.
I specialise in age 11-16 years and enjoy teaching all abilities. I love Maths and try and make the lessons fun and enjoyable. I am also quite calm and patient in nature. I have experience of teaching Statistics as well as Maths at GCSE.
I have experience of tutoring students in secondary school to increase their confidence in Maths and also as part of GCSE preparation. In 2024 my GCSE class was an average of 0.9 above expected grade, all of my tutees passed, with one predicted a grade 4 and gaining a 6, and another predicted 6 and gaining an 8. I only tutor two to three pupils per year.
I am keen to show people that Maths is fun, but appreciate it is not everyone's favourite subject and some people need confidence building, whilst other people's goals may be to be stretched and challenged more. I enjoy teaching all abilities from the child who is fearful of Maths to the child who wants to enhance their grade at GCSE. I like to make pupils feel at ease, so that additional lessons are seen as enhancing rather than a chore. I tend to tutor at home in Hoole, but am happy to travel if necessary.
