I am a PhD-qualified biologist and mathematician offering friendly one-to-one online tutoring in science and mathematics. I specialise in online A-level biology tutoring.
My sessions are calm, friendly and focussed. I have hundreds of hours tutoring and coaching experience, at all ages from GCSE through to adult learners.
Some examples of my one-to-one tutoring services:
* Online A-level Biology tutoring
* Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics to GCSE and equivalent
* Undergraduate and postgraduate life sciences mentoring (also help with data analysis and dissertation/thesis planning)
* Preparation for aptitude tests such as 13+, QTS, BMAT, GMAT, employer's psychometric tests, and drug calculations for NHS and NMPs.
* I am a qualified mental wellbeing coach and I specialise in confidence building.
I offer a fresh perspective on maths and science thanks to my background as a research scientist. I am also a published, award-winning science writer with a wealth of experience in bringing cutting-edge science to life - I have been told by my students that I help them to see tricky concepts in new and exciting ways.
I have hundreds of hours’ tutoring experience, and cater for ages from GCSE/IGCSE and A-level (and I-AL and IB), through to university students, post-graduates and adult learners. I cater for an experiences with UK exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel and OCR.
I firmly believe that boosting your self-confidence and reducing stress and is the first step towards tackling any tricky concept. I have been told I have a gift for putting people at ease. I am also a professionally-qualified coach supporting student wellbeing and positive mental health.
I have extensive experience with students with special educational needs (SEN) as well those with anxiety. My sessions are friendly, focussed and relaxed.
I like to try to make troubling topics as accessible as possible. I often challenge my students to visualize exam questions as if they were real situations – sometimes as if they were actually standing in a lab watching a scientific process happening! Aside from engaging the imagination and memory in a way that goes beyond textbook learning, I encourage my students to think like scientists – a current priority of exam board specifications and one which I am uniquely qualified to prepare them for.
My sessions last one hour, with full email contact in between sessions. If you are preparing for an exam or aptitude test I provide all the relevant past papers which we can work through together at a pace to suit you.
I tutor online and from my home in Woolton village (L25), where I live with my young family. I have a full CRB (DBS) check available to view on request. I also offer reduced-rate sessions for groups.
Please feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have – I look forward to working with you!
